Well we had a fun filled night out at Irwindale Speedway. Scion Evolution sent out an open invitation to Fuscion Car Club to join us for a day of Racing! Even Johnny Rodriguez long time SE Member made it out after being helicoptered off a mountain earlier in the week. He didn’t put duct tape on his cast which he cracked a couple of days earlier to make it to the event, that is dedication and shows you how much he enjoys Irwindale.

I never thought I would quote Kanye West here on Scion Evolution, or any write up for that matter, but the timeless classic, being better than they have ever been is definitely the roots of Toyotafest. Whether it originated from the 80′s, 90′s, or even early 2000′s, each generation of each model from Toyota’s heritage has a very special place in the industry.

Toyota Owner’s and Restorer’s Club originated with the idea of preserving the Toyota heritage. Enthusiasts would preserve and restore classic Toyota vehicles, such as models dating before 1985. This is particular difficult for Scion owners, who’s brand was barely founded back in 2002. When Toyotafest started, the Scion brand wasn’t even founded yet.
But never fear, all this means is that Scion owners just have to take a different approach to building their vehicles. True to Scion’s slogan, “customize or die,” Scion owners have been known for expressing their creativity. From subtle and sleek to wild and crazy, there was no shortage in the amount of Scion builds at Toyotafest. For part one, we will take a look at some of the best at Toyotafest, or maybe I should say Scionfest.

Race season is not upon us! Earlier this month was FormulaDRIFT at the Streets of Long Beach, last week was the Toyota Grand Prix at Long Beach and the Scion Evolution fam bam check out the first day’s happenings.
With the weather finally scorching again in Southern California, it was refreshing to be able to go inside the Long Beach Convention Center and check out the expo that was being held during the Grand Prix. So arrive mid day, that was our first stop.

Last season Tony Angelo returned from a 3 year break from competing to step into the role of judge and technical manager for FormulaDRIFT. Riding in Ken Gushi‘s old 2008 Scion tC and shaking off some rust, he still managed to be ranked within the top 25 by the end of the season. This season he is looking for a fresh start in a brand new Scion FR-S.
