‘Tis the SE-ason

‘Tis the season to be jolly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
‘Tis the season when family and friends gather together, usually over lots and lots of food! Luckily for us, our Scion Evolution family does this all year ’round; twice a month. But for this holiday season, we wanted to do something a little nicer, a little bigger, a little funner!
2012 Scion FR-S Cup – Because FR-S

Snaps: M.Nguyen

First there was the Scion FR-S Tour of LA, then there was 86fest, followed by the Scion FR-S to SEMA, and now…the Scion FR-S Cup!
Why? Because FR-S
The Scion FR-S has truly been the hottest car in scene right now. And anyone can tell just by the amount of involvement various groups have had putting on FR-S themed events such as this. The high participation and involvement of the community attending these events is also evident of the interest in this car.

Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls. Oh my!
Standing here, watching all the Scions go by.
Waiting for their chance to enter and see,
Scion cars and scary monsters for free!
This is the 9th straight year that Scion has come through to really show their appreciation to all the Scion Owners. At least 3,000 Scions filled with more than 10,000 Scion Owners and their guests all gathered at Knott’s Scary Farm for a free event and entry to the the 40th Halloween Haunt. All for just owning a Scion and providing a toy donation for Toys for Tots. A good cause and a good event from a good automotive brand.
Meet & Greet at Golf N Stuff

Last Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, kicked off our 2nd meet & greet since the new changes, but it was the first one where we stepped away from hosting it at the usually homebase location. And I have to say, having it at a new and different place was very refreshing! And everyone clearly had a lot of fun!
The food trucks were great and there were a lot of them! A lot of credit has to be given to Glenn from Norwalk DinDinAGoGo who just recently started up this event at Golf N Stuff on Friday nights. It was perfect for them and for our club.

Can we get an…what? ENCORE! ENCORE was a follow-up event to our 2010 event Revue. It’s the second year we teamed up with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to raise awareness and donate proceeds to the foundation. With so many great charities available we chose JDRF because of their continued research for type 1 diabetes, which there is still no cure. In addition, our very own Nilo J.C. Miranda knows first hand of how diabetes affects someone, he has been through many of them from injections to a kidney transplant, and all the side effects in between. ENCORE is also our continuation with Troy and the Five Axis team. We have done many events at the facility prior to Revue and Troy has always supported the team, his insight and knowledge is second to none, not to mention he is pretty dang legendary.

Backstage Pass: The Build of Scion and HPI Racing’s 1:1 Switch xB

Snaps: P.Dabao, D.Huang
Blurbs: D.Huang

Back in September, Paul Dabao of Toyota approached me with an idea on creating a full-sized Scion xB Switch . The concept behind the initial plan was to create an ultimate support vehicle for the r/c world. The xB would be complete with a pull-out table, battery chargers, storage, tool chest, and entertainment – while replicating the 1:10 r/c model with body pins and antenna.
