O.M.T. or “one more time” is a phrase chanted by fans and judges during a tandem battle during a drift competition that is too close to determine a winner and deserves another run.
The first 86fest was such a popular event that I’m sure everyone was screaming “one more time” and the end of the event. And after months and months of planning, Antonio Alvendia, (@antoniosureshot) of MotorMavens and crew gave the world what they all wanted, 86fest2!
votes scores have been tallied and the results are in!
After a little over 2 months, the 6 race series called the FR-S RC Challenge has come to this: the Finale! Viper RC and Scion pulled of yet another FR-S related venue and despite having the cars at 1/10th scale it was big!

WHAT!? Another event? Already? So soon!
Yup after pulling an all nighter in West Covina for the DaYUUM/Guppy Tea House Summer Shindig, we were up bright and early at Irwindale Speedway for Longo Scion‘s 10 year anniversary / Longo Lexus‘ Pursuit4. Some of us overslept, but we all made it with a nice big 8 +1 car display courtesy from Young from FRS86. Thanks dude!

DaYUUM threw a big party at Mash Up 2 for the Guppy Tea House Temple City grand opening, so when Guppy Tea House started planning a new location in West Covina, CA, you knew another major event was in the works too.
The Summer Shindig, gave people a Hawaii-like luau to cope with the recent summer heat in the SoCal. And it was truly just like Hawaii; with overcast, humidity, and even spots of light rain here and there. All this added to the awesome atmosphere on the night as the weather stayed clear and kept the guests from feeling too hot or too cold, well at least too cold (more on that later, hehe).
Toyota Owner’s and Restorer’s Club originated with the idea of preserving the Toyota heritage. Enthusiasts would preserve and restore classic Toyota vehicles, such as models dating before 1985. This is particular difficult for Scion owners, who’s brand was barely founded back in 2002. When Toyotafest started, the Scion brand wasn’t even founded yet.
But never fear, all this means is that Scion owners just have to take a different approach to building their vehicles. True to Scion’s slogan, “customize or die,” Scion owners have been known for expressing their creativity. From subtle and sleek to wild and crazy, there was no shortage in the amount of Scion builds at Toyotafest. For part one, we will take a look at some of the best at Toyotafest, or maybe I should say Scionfest.

‘Tis the season to be jolly,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
‘Tis the season when family and friends gather together, usually over lots and lots of food! Luckily for us, our Scion Evolution family does this all year ’round; twice a month. But for this holiday season, we wanted to do something a little nicer, a little bigger, a little funner!
“There is no doubt that the Scion FR-S is going to be the dominant and prominent cars [sic] at SEMA this year, and I’ll go out on a limb and say the same will happen again at the 2013 SEMA Show.”
– Neil Tjin
President at Tjin Edition
(Sept. 25, 2012)
Neil could not have been more right in his prediction. The SEMA show is always a really, really, really big show. To put things into context, the SEMA show brings all parts of the auto industry, domestic and international; buyers and exhibitors; styling and performance to tools and accessories, anything you can think of it’s probably there; and then some! Now spread that out through the entire Las Vegas Convention Center, which consists of 3 halls, with one having a second floor, and then the entire outside parking lot. Yup, it’s big.
There’s no surprise on why the Scion FR-S was awarded the hottest sports compact vehicle this year. With a show that big you’d be sure to see all sorts of vehicles, well this year you still could have, but there was not a single area of the convention center that you couldn’t take a few steps and spot a Scion FR-S (or Subaru BRZ). It was almost maddening, maybe even giving some a sense of hysteria!
But all is good, let’s take a look at some of the different FR-S builds at the show. And a few other stand outs.

Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls. Oh my!
Standing here, watching all the Scions go by.
Waiting for their chance to enter and see,
Scion cars and scary monsters for free!
This is the 9th straight year that Scion has come through to really show their appreciation to all the Scion Owners. At least 3,000 Scions filled with more than 10,000 Scion Owners and their guests all gathered at Knott’s Scary Farm for a free event and entry to the the 40th Halloween Haunt. All for just owning a Scion and providing a toy donation for Toys for Tots. A good cause and a good event from a good automotive brand.

Whether in the parking lot chillin’ or on the track tossing it around, its just looked cool. That line can be said about either the Scion FR-S or 86Fest from this past weekend. MotorMavens’ Antonio Alvendia and his crew put together a nice blend of car show and track day festivities at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA. It was a perfect celebration for the whole 86 platform (AE86/FRS/BRZ).
