Can we get an…what? ENCORE! ENCORE was a follow-up event to our 2010 event Revue. It’s the second year we teamed up with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to raise awareness and donate proceeds to the foundation. With so many great charities available we chose JDRF because of their continued research for type 1 diabetes, which there is still no cure. In addition, our very own Nilo J.C. Miranda knows first hand of how diabetes affects someone, he has been through many of them from injections to a kidney transplant, and all the side effects in between. ENCORE is also our continuation with Troy and the Five Axis team. We have done many events at the facility prior to Revue and Troy has always supported the team, his insight and knowledge is second to none, not to mention he is pretty dang legendary.

The Tjin Edition Roadshow Trailer Uncovered

In the last 5-years Tjin Edition toured the nation in their 40ft double-decker trailer and every year it seems like a new skin is attached to it. Over the weekend I had the chance to take some exclusive behind-the-scene shots of the Tjin Edition tailer getting re-skined.
It’s a busy time for them because the tour kicks off in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Charlotte Spring AutoFair on the weekend of April 8th. So, you can imagine the prep work involved in getting the cars and displays together, along with the trek across the country. The trailer was one of the last major projects on the to-do list.
Peeking at the photos gives me the assumption that Falken, Forgestar, iForged, Magnaflow, Webasto, Braille Battery, Escort, Glow Shift, Royal Purple, Universal Technical Institute (UTI), Baer Brakes, AirLift, Vortech, Lysholm, Paxton, and Gurnade are all on-board for the 2011 Tjin Edition Roadshow.
It should be a very exciting year as their 2011 Ford Mustang and 2011 Ford Fiesta travel to over 25 events! In addition, the Ford Fiesta will be given away to a lucky soul, which anyone can enter to win at UTI’s web site at www.utigarage.com. For tour dates and about The Tjin Edition Roadshow visit their web site at www.tjineditionroadshow.com or facebook.
In the meantime, check out these exclusive shots as they work through the day, to the night, and into the morning. It took a 10ft. scaffolding, 3 dudes, 20 hrs., FJ Cruiser, a loud stereo that apparently loved Wiz Khalifa’s Black and Yellow, and harassments that motivated the completion of this 40ft. x 14ft. masterpiece.
Cars and Coffee – Las Vegas

As if a whole week of SEMA wasn’t enough, the Saturday after SEMA week, Cars and Coffee was in Vegas. We got word from Vince at iForged that there was a meet that Saturday at Motor Cars of Las Vegas. Cars and Coffee is a huge meet for car enthusiasts of all types, all across the U.S., typically in Irvine it starts at 6am, but luckily the Vegas crowd starts at 8am. Curious on how the Las Vegas one was, Neil and I got up bright and early then drove to check it out, while Gene and the gang slept it out. A little different from the exotics and the numbers we often see from Irvine but nevertheless it was a nice turn out.

We have always been a big fan of The Tjin Brother’s creations, from their stable of once red to bright blue tC, dual-tone brown xB’s, Ralph Lauren xB, dual-tone 240, grey Volvo, and a list of others. I can’t type out their impressive resume but a simple Google search will easily give you a synopsis of what they do. You will find that these guys push the envelope in terms of design, trends, and style. They were one of, if not the first to dismantle a set of HRE’s to color-match the lips. Who does that to those? They DO! With massive low offsets on their cars, especially the ER34 Skyline, chocolate brown xB’s, and blue tC, they were wide and slammed before Hella and Flush were a term. Among the aggressive stance they have incorporated amazing technology and techniques into their builds such as air-jacks, full custom roll cages, raised shock towers, gold and silver leafing, and many other unique touches that blend form, function, and styling from different eras. Styling, that no one dared to even try on modern day import vehicles.
